Since 1994, Mr. Henneman has worked in the field of patent law. His practice has focused primarily on patent prosecution but also includes significant litigation and licensing experience. After spending the first several years of his legal career at large international law firms, Mr. Henneman and a partner formed their own patent law firm in 1999, where he served as the managing partner. Mr. Henneman has provided and continues to provide patent counsel to a wide variety of clients ranging from individual inventors and start-up companies to large multinational corporations. Representative clients include Flextronics International, Apple Computer, OmniVision Technologies, Xperi, Dolby Laboratories, Egnyte, Ridecell, and several foreign law firms seeking U.S. patent protection for their clients.
Mr. Henneman completed most of his undergraduate work while serving in the United States Marine Corps and Navy. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Physics, Magna Cum Laude, from Lake Forest College in 1988. Mr. Henneman received his Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State University in 1994. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent Office as a patent agent in 1997 and as a patent attorney in 1999. In addition, he is currently a member in good standing of the state bar associations of both California and Michigan and was admitted as an Attorney and Counselor to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 2010.
Mr. Henneman volunteers with Michigan Special Olympics as a coach, chaperone, and member of the Area 18 management team. He is a certified USBC bowling coach and also coaches other sports, including snowshoeing and athletics. He accompanies athletes to various state competitions and events. Mr. Henneman also founded Smilestones USA, Inc., a local nonprofit organization that provides social engagement and support for special needs adults in assisted living facilities. When time allows, he enjoys traveling and fishing with his friends and family.
