Willis Law is pleased to announce the promotion of attorney Samuel R. Gilbertson to Partner. Attorney Gilbertson specializes in civil litigation, probate litigation, real estate law, corporate law, and construction law. He was selected to the 2020 Michigan Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers®, which is a distinction awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys in Michigan. He is also a registered player agent with Major League Baseball and has been published in the Michigan Business Law Journal.
Gilbertson graduated from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he earned his Juris Doctor as a member of the Honors division. While at Regent Law, he competed in national trial competitions and won Top Advocate and Best Oralist awards. He also served as the president of the Business Law Society and received Regent Law’s award for the highest grade in Negotiations and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Prior to becoming an attorney, he spent three years as a college basketball coach at Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, where he also earned his B.A. in Politics and Government and graduated magna cum laude.
He is admitted to practice in the State Courts of Michigan and the Federal Court for the Western District of Michigan, as well as the State Courts of Indiana, the Federal Court for the Northern District of Indiana, and the Supreme Court of Indiana. Gilbertson formerly served as the president of the Young Lawyers’ Section of the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and is currently the president of Kalamazoo Home School Sports, Inc. He also serves on the board of Berean Baptist Church and is an active member of the Kalamazoo community.
